The next level

We have left the bright lights of Bangkok behind and have started on our journey out into the wilderness.
We flew into Chang Mai this morning and visited the ITDP base, meeting Mike and the team and be briefed on the the job ahead - it all sounds quite exciting. Then into the trucks and on the road.
A stop at the reclining buddha, an amazing view from the top ( see pic) Broke the 3.5hr journey as well as a stop for some sweet gumboots, to Om Koi.
We are overnighting at a 'resort' here before heading on to Kaw Law Ber. (the spelling changes every time I see it written down).
Dinner was at local restaurant where I experienced the next level of hot. The chilli in Om Koi makes the 'morning glory' seem like weetbix. Initially I was quite proud of myself - however crying was not a good look shortly after - though everyone else seemed to enjoy it. Kerry was the last to try a chilli - but was not able to remain impassive for the duration.
We are heading off to Kaw Law Ber tomorrow if it doesn't rain we should take about 4hrs plus visiting a school which may be replicated in this new location. However if it rains it could take a lot longer (8hrs). Please pray for good weather.
This may be our last post for a while last wifi area. Thanks for your support we are having a great time and looking forward to getting stuck (in).

  1. Yeah team - time for some off-road. You're probably at the village now ... enjoy the rice, the digging and most of all the beautiful people. PS keep taking up the chilli challenge - just a little with each meal!
